Spring Shopping List

We’re past April showers, and now many of us are looking forward to enjoying the May flowers.  As the temperature slowly heats up and spring quickly gives way to summer, now is the perfect time to freshen up inside your home. Here are seven easy things you should add to your spring shopping list.

1. Porch

What’s a better way to prep for relaxing summer evenings than with a quick spruce up of your porch? Capture the bright colors of spring with new planters or hanging flower baskets. If new outdoor furniture isn’t in your budget, try livening up your space with new cushions. Now is also a great time to double check that your grill isn’t in need of repair. From the gas tank to the grates, you don’t want a grill hiccup to happen right before your big cookout.

2. Kitchen

Your kitchen is the center of your home, so make sure it isn’t overlooked in the spring sprucing up process. You’ll be surprised what even just a few new dishtowels can do to bring more light into your kitchen space. Keep your dinnerware shatter-proof by using durable melamine dishes. Lighter and more durable than china, melamine dishes will quickly become your go-to for every backyard BB&Q.

3. Family Room

Simple accessories, like new throw pillows and curtains, can go a long way in brightening up your home’s family room. Make your family room exude spring by swapping out your dark, heavier fabrics for lighter materials, such as crisp white hues and linens. You can even bring the freshness of the outdoors in with fresh flower arrangements. If fresh flowers are out of the budget, check your local craft store for high-quality artificial flowers, which you can use to create your own one-of-a-kind arrangements.

4. Dining Room

Don’t have room in the budget for a new dining table? Break up the boring, predictable patterns often found in formal dining rooms with a new table runner. Try fun shades like aqua or pale yellow to add in an interesting pastel element. Linen napkins and a new centerpiece are also a great way to subtly punch up your home décor style.

5. Powder Room

Retire your old towels, and treat your family and friends to something refreshing with spring-inspired guest towels. They don’t have to follow a specific color pattern – liven up your powder room by mixing solid and patterned towels. Even better, try a low cost update with beautiful soaps and a new soap dispenser.

6. Bathrooms

If your bathroom doesn’t have a window, brighten things up with a new shower curtain. Spring is the perfect time to replace your dingy, old liner. You can also turn your bathroom into the spa of your dreams with essential oils and soft, cozy rugs and towels.

7. Bedrooms

There’s little doubt that your bedrooms might be on your list of favorite places to spruce up. Give them a refresh by stowing away the winter bedding and pulling out the light, airy spring duvet. From bright white sheets to bold colored accents, you can transform bedrooms into the perfect retreat.
