Out With Jacuzzis, in With Wine Cellars | Boston Common Feature

I feel so honored to have been chosen by Boston Common Magazine as a “power broker”, and  interviewed for their Fall 2012 edition. In the article entitled “Shining a Light on the Suburbs”, I’m questioned alongside Wendy Fox, regarding today’s buyer’s needs, new amenity trends, and valuable selling points in the current market. From wine cellars, homework rooms, high-tech security systems, and indoor sport courts, I had a ton of fun giving tips on what today’s buyers are looking for in the suburbs.  Another fun amenity that has grabbed the interest of some buyers is to set up the first floor office as a real bar with flat screens and seating that opens up to a beautiful patio and maybe even wraps around to the main patio or kitchen.  Some buyers prefer their main office to be right off the master bedroom rather than on the first floor.  The one room that remains constant is the need for the control center desk or nook right off the kitchen.  The control center is where the scheduling and organization of mail, school and activities occur.

If you’re planning on selling your home, making improvements to increase value, or looking to buy a new home, I recommend taking note of what’s “in” and what’s “out”  in terms of desirability in 2012. Check out the full article in the Fall issue of Boston Common Magazine, or online here.
