Outside the beautiful city of Boston, there are many small suburban towns that offer much to do. One significant town in Boston’s suburbs is Needham. Whether you are new to the area or a longtime resident, we know some spots for you to check out.
The town of Needham offers a few annual events that are worth adding into your calendar to make sure you never miss them again.
1. Harvest Fair – September 30, 2018
The Harvest Fair is a long-time annual event in the community of Needham. The event is in honor of the beginning of autumn and brings the community together. 2018 will be the first year that the festival coincides with the Needham Farmer’s Market and will take place on September 30, 2018, from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. There will be seasonal produce for sale, artisan products, giveaways, activities and much more!
2. Blue Tree Lighting – December 2, 2018
A tradition that has been going on for many years will continue once again on December 2, 2018. At 5 p.m., join the Needham community for the annual “Blue Tree Lighting”. For years the community has gathered in front of the town hall to the light the maple tree for the season. The tree will be lit with the help of St. Joseph Parish and Volante Farms, with music provided by Needham Plugged In (Needham’s band program). The event will be followed with a visit from Santa on one of the town’s firetrucks.
3. Fireworks – July 3, 2018
This event takes place every year at Memorial Park on the 3rd of July. Grab your friends and family and head there for the perfect way to celebrate the 4th. The following day continues with the raising of the flag, a parade and some activities for children.
In addition to the town’s annual events, Needham also has some great restaurants and fresh food shops that are worth checking out.

Finally, spend some time getting to know the community by discovering the local arts scene.
