As your children get back into the swing of the school year, it can be tough to keep everything at home in line. Whether it be your children’s’ sports gear or homework, it is probably safe to say you do not want it laying around your home. However, there are different ways to manage this type of clutter and keep it organized.

With going back to school comes heading back to the field, which means one thing – sports gear. Between jackets, shoes, hats and more,  there really is not much space to spare for gear, especially in the mudroom. Who says lockers are only for school? We love the idea of creating designated areas for each child. It provides a spacious area for them to store everything while looking organized and clean.

It can be tough keeping track of all of the dates for activities that come with children going back to school. One thing we know is that you can never have too many calendars to manage it all. You can use chalkboard paint to construct this calendar on a highly visible wall. The best part about this? You do not have to worry about getting a new one every month, you can simply erase and start fresh.

Depending on the age of your children, they may have a large amount of arts and crafts supplies. Avoid a larger mess than necessary by hanging a pegboard on the wall. Pop in some hooks and you are able to hang endless supplies. If you find yourself needing more space, you can then hang small containers/bins from here for additional storage.

Most families have endless books for storytime and leisure and it is inevitable that more will come with another school year. There are many different designs of book shelving that you can look into depending on the room’s use. For a young child, we love someone unique like this tree! It can spruce up the room while also providing more organization.

Last but not least is probably the more common idea but very needed. However, take adding a desk to your child’s bedroom to the next level. There are various ways you can do this such as under their bed (like pictured below), tucked away in a corner with unique shelving, a pocket desk in the closet and so many more!

We wish everyone a happy school year! We hope our tips help all of the parents out there stay organized during this busy time of year.
