This is one of the most well-known spots in the area. Located in Natick, families can visit the farm and take part in a range of activities. This site offers apple picking, delicious cider donuts, pumpkin carving and some hard cider for adults in the taproom. There is also an area that offers a play space for children which includes bouncy houses and climbing structures. You can take the train to pick whatever is in season and stop along the way to check out other activities that are happening at the time of your visit. The farm is open daily from 10p.m. – 5p.m.
An amazing and delicious local farm stand that offers fresh produce options, this place creates a HayMaze for families during the weekends of October. After you find your way out of the Hay Maze, head out back where you can take a shot at the potato blasters. Launch potatoes at targets and see if you can hit one!
We talked about this in our “Out and About – The Needham Edition” blog post and we are here to remind you of this sweet spot again. The farm began its’ business in Needham in 1962 and is now run by the family’s fourth generation. The farm has their own greenhouse and ice cream stand and cookbook, but also offers a variety of events throughout the season.
If you’re in the mood for a spooky night, stop by for a haunted hayride at Hanson’s Haunted Farm. There are hayrides offered every Friday and Saturday night from 7pm until 10pm during the month of October. The ride goes through the farm where 100 volunteers jump out to scare you.
Located in both Needham and Newton, check out the town’s foliage by renting a lime bike. The company, LimeBike, allows people to rent a 1-speed, 3-speed or 8-speed bike and cruise around town. With an app on your phone, you can unlock a bike and take it for a spin.
