Memorial Day Weekend is always such an exciting sign that summer is around the corner (despite the rain we have had recently).

With all of the running around that seems to always be happening, sometimes it is nice to have little to no planning but also enjoy a nice weekend away from home. We have rounded up some ideas for you to visit nearby, without much hassle.

Ipswich – MA

Ipswich is a great location right in Massachusetts and a perfect spot for a little get away. Whether you are looking for a romantic spot or a place to take the whole family, this will work both ways. In Ipswich you can relax at the beach, explore at the parks and forms, sightsee, eat and pretty anything else that interests you! Some fabulous hotels in that area are Salthouse Harbour Hotel and Hintlesham Hall Hotel.

Plymouth – MA

A town known of so much history is just a short drive away! Whether you choose to take a day trip or stay overnight, Plymouth has more than plenty for you to do. Explore the Mayflower, Plymouth Rock, while wandering downtown. If that doesn’t seem to fit your wants, choose one of the many beautiful beaches in town to lounge on during the day. Enjoy some food and drinks and the nightlife in town afterwards. If you are bringing children, consider the John Carver Inn for a place to stay. The indoor water park will keep them more than occupied!

Nantasket Beach – Hull, MA

It may be located not too far away but this spot will feel like you have taken a trip to another state. Nantasket Beach is beautiful itself but located right next to it is Paragon Boardwalk. Here you will find games at the arcade, mini-golf, and fascination. Make sure you don’t miss the Paragon Carousel, also located right along the board walk. Don’t worry, if you get hungry while there, you don’t even have to leave! There are plenty of food choices located walking distance. If you choose to stay for the weekend, Nantasket Beach resort and Nantasket Hotel at the Beach have wonderful reviews.

Provincetown – MA

Beaches, shopping and dining, what more can you ask for during a quick weekend away? Hidden away in its own world, it is easy to forget that this is actually a part of Cape Cod. There is always something happening in this area, so be sure to walk down the street and take it all in!

Great Wolf Lodge New England – Fitchburg, MA

If you have children, this is a must and perfect for this length of time. Known mostly for their indoor water park, Great Wolf Lodge has much more than that to offer. There are many activities for children to take part in; character appearances, story time, PJ parties, ropes course, a theater, arcades, kids spa and so much more! If visiting, you can stay right at the resort.

Canyon Ranch – MA

Take some time for yourself and get the treatment you deserve this weekend. Canyon Ranch is the wellness resort you have been waiting for. From fitness classes to wellness and spa treatments, you will leave here feeling like a whole new person. There is the option to make your daily schedule, so you can be sure that you will fit in everything you want to while there!

Tourists – MA 

Experience the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts in a whole new way. Tourists is a newer hotel that is certainly not your average getaway spot. The goal of Tourists is to connect you with nature but in a way that you still feel like you are on a nice vacation. The rooms at the hotel have river and woods views, providing a peaceful look at the outdoors.

Beauport Hotel – MA 

This newer spot is amazing! There is a rooftop pool, restaurant, bar and ocean terrace all in one. Not to mention, this location is everything. It is close to many other things to visit and the view is perfect for a weekend getaway.

Lake Winnipesaukee – NH

For someone who really just wants to enjoy the weather and relax in the sun, Lake Winnipesaukee is calling your name. There are endless trails to hike through with beautiful sites to see while enjoying the fresh air. Canoeing and Kayaking are also activities that you can enjoy along the bodies of water there. Oliver Lodge, Towne Place Suites by Marriott Gilford and Center Harbor Sutton House B & B all have fantastic reviews.

Rockport – ME

If you are willing to travel just a little bit farther Rockport, Maine is awaiting. This beautiful spot offers boat tours, peaceful spots for a picnic, animal farms, restaurants, galleries, lighthouses and more. There are a few places you can choose from to stay but all of them have wonderful reviews. These quaint inns are ideal for a weekend getaway.
